Speaking to members of the press on Wednesday moments after being released on a Sh100,000 cash bond, Itumbi called on the media to shine the spotlight on the youngster.

According to him, the 17-year old was arrested in March with foreigners and arraigned in court, but his case is yet to be concluded.

"Against advice, I want to urge all of you to go to Muthaiga Police Station, there is a young man there who has been held from the March 20 of this year, up to now.

"Why? they were arrested as foreigners but because he is a Kenyan and he is seventeen years old and didn't have an ID, he was asked to bring a birth certificate, he brought a birth certificate to this court and he was then told it is being verified, it has been verified, verified and now we are in July. Those are four months... Please go and help that young man that is the least we can do,"Itumbi told the media outside Milimani law courts.

Itumbi spent 5 days behind bars as sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) carried out investigations into a letter said to have carried claims of an assassination plot against Deputy President William Ruto.
