Gusii community will have a fair share in the Orange Democratic Government than in the current Jubilee government, Kisii Senator has said.
Mr. Chris Obure who was drumming the support for the party in Igare market on Thursday said the Jubilee government had given the community a raw deal and urged residents to shun politicians who are rallying the community to join Jubilee Alliance party.
Obure noted that the community received a fair share when Raila Odinga was Prime minister than in Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency and said it will be a ‘grave’ mistake if they fail to support Mr. Odinga.
“It will be a grave mistake if we don’t support ODM in 2017 because the party has demonstrated in the past how it cares about our community. We saw that when Raila (Odinga) was prime Minister because we were given several ministerial posts and other senior government officials,” he said.
He also faulted the Jubilee government for deliberately secluding the region in terms of development given its strong support to the opposition.
“Being in opposition isn’t a crime because tomorrow we may form government. What Jubilee has done is to ignore this region development wise. When Jakom (Raila Odinga) was in power, you saw how roads were improved here despite many of us voting for President Mwai Kibaki. This is a wakeup call that we must remain in ODM,” he added.
