The Kisii county contractors association has urged the county government to make sure that they pay them all their debts before the next financial budget.
Addressing the media on Thursday evening at a Kisii Hotel led by their chairman Kennedy Mariera, they said the county government has been slow in paying them since 2013 wondering when they are planning to make the payments.
According to the contractors, the county government needs to pay them Sh2.6 billion from 2013 up to date.
“As the county contractors we appeal to the county government of Kisii to pay us all our debts so that we can also pay our clients”, said Mariera
In addition they accused the county government for its slow pace of paying contractors as they claimed that the county has got money but due to mismanagement of funds they are yet to be paid.
“The county has got money since in each year there is financial budget where some money is allocated to contractors we don’t know what is going on but what we want is our payment, ”added Mariera
“we would like the county to know that even contractors have families to cater for so we need our money, “ said Mariera.
