Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will on Saturday (January 14) address a peace rally in Garissa town in a bid to neutralize rising political tension in Garissa town.
Kalonzo, according to a Wiper party source will be in company of senior party officials during the trip.
Among those in attendance will be former Parliament Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim who is eyeing the Garissa Township parliamentary seat.
"The party leader will be in Garissa town tomorrow (Friday) for peace talks following rising tension," the source told this reporter on phone on Thursday.
"We will travel before him and we expect the meeting to bring harmony among the Somalis and nono-Somalis in Garissa town."
Last week, there was tension in Garissa after a video circulating on social media warned members of the Kamba community and other non-locals to leave Garissa town ahead of the August polls.
Maalim claimed the person who spoke in the video was Garissa Township MP Aden Duale.
Duale refuted the claims terming Mr Maalim's claims as moves aimed at injuring his political reputation before the general elections.
Both Maalim and Duale recorded statements at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations at Muthaiga, Nairobi.
