The team which included Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and coastal MP Mishi Mboko.

Most Kenyans feel the deputy president should not have commented on the Cord team the way he did during the 14th national prayer breakfast terming it as hate speech and belittling Cord leaders.

Kisii Lecturer Dr Samuel Moindi reacted to Ruto's sentiments saying Ruto should learn to respect other leaders no matter how junior they are.

“The deputy president showed how incompetent he is by slamming two Cord leaders chosen to spearhead the peace talks. He should have focused on the agenda at hand but not mocking Cord leaders,” he said.

"This is very unfortunate that such words came from the Deputy president who seems not to tolerate the opposition at all," he added.
