The tour across Nakuru County by the national leadership has driven a point home; the local leaders are losing grip of their electorate.

Throughout the two-day trip in the perceived Jubilee stronghold, the local leaders have received a cold reception, an indicator that if they are to be reelected, extra steps ought to be taken.

Otherwise, the incumbent local leaders are under siege.

A question clicks, why does it happen? Why should it be that the leaders who were elected in by popular votes are unpopular?

Daniel Kimani, a resident of Nakuru County, Molo Town argues that some leaders have no time to attend to the needs of their electorate.

"We cannot be having issues such as sanitation, poor roads and alleged unequal distribution of bursaries and be happy over it," he said.

The same sentiments are shared by Dennis Mwangi who adds that it is a shame for the area M.P to be ranked so lowly in active participation in parliament.

"How do we show support to people who are ranked in lowest performance in the National Assembly?" he said.

The chemistry between the leaders and the electorate seems sour.

Unless something happens overnight, the reelection seems a tough gamble. Photo caption:
