Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has backed plans for the opposition to form a 'Super' Alliance that will unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming 2017 general elections.
Midiwo says that calls for 'super' alliance are in the right direction and will boost the opposition chances of defeating Uhuru in 2017.
Speaking on Citizen TV on Sunday, the Gem MP said that Cord is ready to work with other leaders so long as Uhuru is send packing in 2017.
“I welcome calls for a super alliance and I know Cord principals Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka are of the same idea,” he said.
The Mp said that the opposition is keen to unseat the Jubilee government which he said has failed Kenyans.
“Kenyans no longer trust the Uhuru government and want a change,” he said.
The deputy chief whip hit out at the Jubilee government accusing it of perpetuating tribalism.
He alleged that the Uhuru government is thriving on corruption.
Midiwo at the same time urged Cord leaders to remain united. The MP said that unity will see the opposition win the 2017 elections.
There are claims that Cord is fronting for the formation of a national super alliance that will defeat Uhuru.
On Friday Amani Coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi said that he will work with Cord to form an alliance that will see Uhuru defeated in 2017.
Cord is said to have reached out to leaders like Gideon Moi of Kanu, Isaac Ruto of Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party, Charity Ngilu and Martha Karua as it plans for the 2017 polls.
The coalition is also luring trade unions, the clergy and political activists in bid to unseat Uhuru in 2017.
