Reports have emerged that hackers tried to access people's WhatsApp accounts.
According to the reports by British newspaper, the Independent, spy agencies tried using a malicious video to track and hack people's accounts whenever they send an MP4 file to their friends on WhatsApp.
''WhatsApp users are being urged to update to the latest version of the app due to fears that spy agencies are snooping on people through a major security vulnerability,'' it reported.
This has since been dealt with, but people using WhatsApp on their devices have been urged to update to the latest version of the same application to avoid being hacked.
“We make public reports on potential issues we have fixed consistent with industry best practices. In this instance, there is no reason to believe that users were impacted,'' said Whatsapp administration.
This is not the first time hackers have tried breaking into people's WhasApp accounts.
Early this month, over 1,400 people were almost hacked. They received messages on their devices warning them of a possible hack.
“There’s a possibility this phone number was impacted, and we want to make sure you know how to keep your mobile phone secure,'' read the warning message.
