West Mugirango university students association has vowed to work closely with like-minded groups to push for accountability and good governance in Nyamira county.

This comes a time when Governor John Nyagarama is facing a rebellion from a section of youths who are questioning his administration tactics and inclusivism.

Speaking on Tuesday during the annual meeting in Nyamira, incoming chairman Mr Mamboleo Ongere said the association will fight for radical changes in terms of governance and vowed to launch a war against corruption.

I understand that as young leaders, we have a role to push for good governance and inclusivity in the county government. We are ready to work with like-minded people to ensure the corruption we often hear is defeated. We want to see a smooth administration that engages all stakeholders in matters development,” he said.

Outgoing chairman Mr Jason Mogire said the association has been keen in fighting against impunity and challenged the incoming team to uphold integrity when facing elected leaders.

“There are so many challenges in leadership. When you are fighting for the common good, some leaders will come and try to compromise you. It’s important that you hold integrity to serve people’s interests. Change starts with you and me,” he said.
