In an effort to improve disaster response and management, the Kiambu government has announced plans to construct five modern fire stations across the county.

Speaking when he unveiled four new fire engines in Kiambu town on Thursday, Governor William Kabogo said that the county had set aside enough funds for the construction of the modern stations.

Kabogo revealed that his government was also working closely with the Polish government on disaster response and management.

“We have set aside enough money that will be used to construct five ne modern fire stations across Kiambu to improve on disaster response and management,” said Kabogo.

The Kiambu governor indicated that the construction will be completed before the end of the year in selected sub counties.

He added that more fire stations will be established in every Sub County and Ward.

“Disaster response and management is a key area that needs a lot of funding and sponsoring in order to remain prepared for eventualities,” he said.

Governor Kabogo said that the county was sponsoring and training youths on disaster management response.

He observed that disaster response remains a challenge not only in Kiambu but across the country.
