The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has called on the National Police Service (NPSC) to carry out thorough investigations towards locating missing lawyer Simon Lilan.
The Eldoret-based lawyer who alleged the late Nominated MP Mark Too was assassinated, was last seen in Eldoret town at about 11am Monday January 9, same day Too was buried at his Maziwa farm, in Kapseret.
Lilan's brother John Talam and wife Irene said they did not know Lilan's whereabouts, for his phone went off ever since they realised he was missing.
Lilan was to attend a meeting in Ziwa, same day he went missing.
In a statement, LSK president Isaac Okero urged the police to facilitate the safe return of Lilan to his family.
He said he spoke to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, who assured him that the police received a missing person report and were looking for Lilan.
"LSK has been in communication with the family of Mr Lilan that said he was last seen on the 9th January, 2017. Mr Lilan called me on the same day (9th January 2017) at 5.52pm after calling and speaking to the Chairman LSK North Rift Branch between 5:32pm and 5:37pm,” Okero said, Thursday.
He further said that the family had formally reported to the police Lilan's disappearance and remained very concerned for his safety.
The lawyer had warned that he had received death threats, after claiming Too's death was not natural.
