There are business persons and there are entrepreneurs.
An entrepreneur is someone who sees an opportunity where no one or few saw it.
He/she is someone who is ready to take calculated risks which will turn the odds in his/her favour.
The former, on the other hand, is one who opens up a business without much considerations.
These are the people who will start a business because someone they know has a similar successful business.
Sadly, such people do not survive the jungle that is business.
This, having been said, I can confidently say, without fear of contradiction, that Nakuru has an abundance of business persons but a scarcity of entrepreneurs.
If you still don’t get me, think of it this way; when was the last time you saw a business that stood out. One that made you say, ‘why didn’t I think of that one?’
Baby Day Cares
I bet you see one expectant mother daily. Most of them are career women who have to go back to school and/or work after their maternity leave expires. Someone has to watch over the little ones right? This is where the day cares come in.
Gaming Lounges
Some of you grew up in a time where your idea of fun was to run around in the playground. Today, however, the idea of fun is a bit different. Play stations and Xboxes are the new hobby. Enterprising individuals saw this need and decided to set up gaming lounges. You pay to play!
Car and carpet wash
As common as they are, I still think they are enterprising since the cars on our roads are increasing by the day. They also double up as carpet cleaners hence increasing their revenue.
Milk Dispensing Machines.
Just when you think you have seen it all you see a vending machine that allows you to buy milk for any amount. If that’s not enterprising I don’t know what is. There are growing more and more popular by the day so expect one in your hood in the near future.
These are but a few of them. Now only one question begs to be asked; are you an entrepreneur or a business person?
