Speaking on Wednesday, Simita said her electorates have been denied their rights for 40 years and the time has come for the government to do justice to them.

She said through efforts by National Land Commission (NLC) to register over 500 squatters has shown the willingness to settle the matter but other political forces have interfered with the process.

“My people for the last 40 years have lived a life of ownership and it is time NLC did justice and we want President Uhuru Kenyatta to address this matter during upcoming Madaraka day celebrations,” he said.

The squatters held a peaceful demonstration on Tuesday accusing Nakuru ODM Chair Peter ole Osono of frustrating registration and subsequent allocation of land to the squatters.

Osono allegedly moved to court where he filed a suit against NLC after it started the registration exercise.

Independent reports sourced by this writer indicate that some of the lands have been sold off to other individuals.
