In a meeting between the governor and more than 150 women affiliated to more than 10 women groups, the women vowed to support the county boss citing his development record as one of the best.

Led by Subukia women groups association chairlady Mercyline Wamboi, they lauded Governor Mbugua's efforts in empowering youth and women in the county saying that under his administration, the two groups had benefited greatly.

"Basing on the many success stories we receive, I think our governor has done a lot as far as women and youth empowerment is concerned and we promise not to let him go next year, as per now, he remains the governor of our choice," she said.

Ms Wamboi further called on the governor to consider youth and women when awarding tenders saying the two groups have always been sidelined.

On his part, the governor committed to support youths and women initiatives further calling on women to nurture a God fearing society arguing that many youths were becoming unmanageable because of irresponsible parenting.

The meeting was part of the ongoing outreach programme aimed at bringing county services closer to the common mwananchi.
