Acting National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani has revealed that it doesn't take one to be an accountant to proper in that capacity.

Speaking on Wednesday, be added that similarly, one does not need to be a finance officer to be a good Treasury Cabinet Minister, but rather an economist.

He said that the slot, therefore, fits him, as he studied economics, adding that he also possesses many other skills that make him the best man for the job.

"You don't need to be an accountant to a finance officer. Treasury needs more than anything an economist. I studied economics," he said in an interview with Citizen TV.

Yattani, also the Labour CS, added that his involvement in many other activities also makes him qualified, not just for the Treasury job but in any given to him.

The former Marsabit Governor noted that he has also been a diplomat and a politician, which makes it easy for him to deliver in whichever management capacity.

"I also dealt at the post graduate level with public policies and truth is by my diverse working and career as a diplomat, an administrator and politician. I am happy that all those exposures prepared me for any position of management," he added.

He took over on president Uhuru Kenyatta's appointment after the seat was left vacant following former CS Henry Rotich's arraignment in court over graft.

Rotich was arraigned alongside his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge.
