There have been increased cases of car theft in Eldoret town Central Business District (CBD).
According to Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa, 10 cases of vehicles being stolen has been reported.
“Cases of car theft in Eldoret town has been on the rise but as the chairman of the security committee we have put a small team of officers led by the County commander to ensure that those stealing vehicles are arrested and charged,” said the County Commissioner.
Jaldesa spoke to the press in his office on Friday. He reiterated that notorious places where vehicles are stolen include Eldoret CBD parking areas and car wash.
“To help us end this vice am appealing to people with business to put CCTV cameras since most cars are stolen at parking slots, it will be easy to identify those involved through the cameras,” added Jaldesa.
The Uasin Gishu county commissioner said that he will work with the county government to put surveillance cameras in all junctions to monitor those involved in these heinous act.
He, however, warned people against taking their cars to the car wash them living the key with the attendants because the keys may be duplicated thereafter the car stolen.
There has been an outcry from the public that it does not pass a day without one vehicle being stolen.
