The Tegemeo Disabled Persons (TDP) group in Nakuru County has benefited from a donation of assorted assisting devices for people living with disabilities courtesy of an American Organization.

The donations which were received on Wednesday afternoon were shipped in through the facilitation of the Nakuru county government. On site to receive the donations at the county headquarters was the Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua and his deputy Joseph Ruto.

Other county officials who were present at the reception were Joseph Motari the county secretary, Education CeC Francis Mathea, nominated MCA representing people with disabilities Emma Mbugua, and the Tegemeo Disabled Persons group chairman Richard Tirop among other group officials and members.

Speaking at the event, Mbugua assured the assembled that the County government had set aside Sh55 million for people living with disabilities.

“The county has set aside a million shillings for PLWDs which translates to a total of Sh55 million every financial year,” said the governor.

The forty feet container which shipped in the goods will be opened on January 11 next year after the festive season. 

The other container is stored at the Menengai Social Hall grounds which is situated in Bondeni Estate opposite Bondeni Police station.
