Speaking to residents of Musingini in Kithyoko location, Mutemi condemned the exercise stating the current situation only brings loss to area residents.

"Since the exercise of sand harvesting begun in Ukambani it has never benefited even up to today. Instead, it has worsened the environmental conditions due to careless and greedy harvesters," said Mutemi.

Mutemi further on Thursday called upon both the County and National government to introduce regulations on beneficial sand harvesting.

"It's important for all County and National government leaders from the respective areas to meet and plan on how the exercise needs to be done to create stable employment for the youth," he added.

This follows a demonstration carried out by the residents of Musingini who condemned roadside sand harvesting.
