A group of the the Luhya community living in Uasin Gishu County has welcomed recent Opposition unity that saw Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula pledge to work together ahead of the August polls.
According to the Luhya Community Council Uasin Gishu County Chapter, chairman John Mutoro, Wetangula and Mudavadi's unity will help enhance Luhya unity.
"For many years Luhyas have been used as a bridge to ascend people to power due to our division, but with such unity we will now speak in one voice and elect one of our own,'' Mutoro said during a press conference in Eldoret town.
He added: "We would like to urge leaders such as Ababu Namwamba, Cyrus Jirongo and Kenneth Lusaka to come together to prevent oppression that Luhyas have faced from the current establishment.''
