A majority who spoke to this writer said the move will not only save them on costs but also improve food production in the region.

They are now calling on the officers at the mini depot to always consider individual farmers other than groups and cooperatives who buy fertilisers in bulk.

Moses Kirimi said the mini depot will help solve the availability of farm inputs which has always been an issue during the planting seasons over the years.

"At least we will be able to buy seeds and even get fertilisers here as compared to other years where we were forced to go to the main depot in town. We thank the government for remembering us," he said.

On her part, Alice Njeri said the new development is a plus to all farmers in the area because availability of farm inputs at their door step would make them access them on time.

"In agriculture, availability and proximity of the farm inputs is an advantage to the farmer and that is exactly what our government has done. Mine is now to advise my fellow farmers to make good use of it and ensure that our area produces enough food to feed Nakuru," she noted.

On Saturday, area MP Kimani Ngunjiri brought more than 50 bags of fertiliser to be distributed to different farmers in the area.
