Former presidential aspirant Mr Peter Kenneth suffered a blow on Monday after Nyamira Speaker Joash Nyamoko decamped to Jubilee Alliance Party.
Nyamoko, a vibrant politician from North Mugirango came second on an KNC ticket after losing narrowly to the incumbent Charles Geni before he was elected as the second speaker of Nyamira County Assembly.
On Monday, Nyamoko who accompanied Jubilee bigwigs during the official opening of Nyamira JAP offices, made his 2017 intentions known by declaring interest in the North Mugirango parliamentary on a JAP ticket.
“I am happy to be party of this team that is unbowed to bring change to our region. I am not interested in politics of rhetorics and I can fight well from Jubilee Alliance Party,” Nyamoko said during his address to JAP supporters.
“Parties are just vehicles that take somebody somewhere. I made the decision of joining this party because of its manifesto and what it stands for. I belong here and in 2017, I will face my opponents using JAP,” he said.
Nyamoko, however, challenged residents to vote for individual personalities rather than party affiliations as evidenced through the voting patterns.
“Sometimes it’s good to judge people based on their track record and not parties where we belong. Let us vote individuals rather than parties,” he said.
Mr. Nyamoko has been under monitoring from Statehouse with initial reports indicating that President Uhuru Kenyatta has been pursuing him to join Jubilee.
