People living with gender disorders now want the proposed school curriculum to consider offering learners with skills that accommodate students with both boy/girl conditions.

In a letter signed by chairperson Audrey Ithibu, the lobby group demands that the new curriculum should cater for children with boy/girl features so as to enable them earn respect and fair treatment.

According to the contents of her letter, that was published by the local dailies on Sunday “A boy who is effeminate and who prefers to be a girl should not be expelled on the assumption he is gay. He has a gender disorder and should be referred to a psychologist or counselor who is knowledgeable about gender disorders.”

Similarly, the group stated that a girl who behaved or rather has a liking for the female peers should never be labelled as a gay.

The memorandum from the transgender group is just among the many submissions that have been forwarded for consideration as the Education ministry designs a curriculum ahead of the self-imposed deadline next month.
