PHOTO SOURCE: www.nation.co.ke Everyday Kenyans wake up to news on hatespeech courtesy of their leaders and those of various political parties on social media. Endless word wars from antagonist ethnic groups reign the internet led by the elites of our nation! If you would mind asking someone why they are calling others names, if they were honest enough, they would tell you it's because they support different political parties. But what's the sense there? Kenya is an independent country and everyone has a right to join any political party of their choice. There is surely no reason as to why our ideological differences should make us fight. Kenyans swore to never shed blood again since the 2007/2008 post election violence which left many dead and others homeless. Kenyans led by the clergy men joined in prayers for this nation while organizations took pary in enlightening the society on importance of peace in this nation. Political aspirants too vowed to accept defeat incase they lost in the 2013 elections. And that is how Kenya came to know peace during and even after elections. But it now seems like that is all forgotten. How can we be so first to forget how we lost our brothers and sisters just because of politics? Our leaders are hating on each other on broad day light! Others are speaking of some communities who should not reside in some areas! What leaders are these? Are they telling us to start fighting our brothers and sisters from other communities right now? A few days ago, an MP led a crowd of people in storming a hotel where Raila and his followers were holding in a meeting. The opposition leaders too have been leading in chaotic anti-IEBC demonstrations and they do not mind enbacking on them this Thursday if the government does not meet their demands on how the IEBC dialogue should not be conducted. Seemingly, they do not care the lives that have been lost already as a result of their demos. It's only an year and some months to the 2017 general elections yet verbal and physical violence are ruling the country. Noone is ready to accept defeat even on the IEBC issue. As such, one is left wondering what 2017 will be like and whether the losers will concede defeat. If the current political tension goes on, Kenya may just be heading to a bloody 2017.
