A man has been arraigned in court for trying to bribe a Traffic Base Commander in Rachuonyo, Homabay County.
Robert Obondo who was at the Kisumu law court on Friday was charged for offering a Sh2,000 bribe to Chief Inspector Kiberia Mbiti.
According to the charge sheet, Mr Obondo was accused of offering benefits to the police officer contrary to the Economic and Anti-Corruption Act of 2016.
The particulars of the offence ware that the accused committed the act on February 29 to have the Mr Kiberia release a driving licence and work ticket belonging to Kanoti Irony, a driver of a bus belonging to Obey Secondary School.
When the accused first appeared in court on March 1, he pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh50,000 or a bond of Sh200,000 or with similar sureties.
The case will be heard on May 5.
