Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has been told to stop putting conditions on President Uhuru Kenyatta over the 2017 elections.
This is after the governor was quoted by local media saying that governors should be given direct party tickets to enable them have time to campaign for Uhuru.
Nakuru residents said the governor cannot blackmail the President as he has ‘nothing to offer’ to Uhuru.
“He can decide not to campaign for Uhuru, we are the ones with votes and we have already made a decision to support the President and his deputy in 2017. Mbugua should campaign for himself because he has really shortchanged the people of Nakuru,” Joel Maina posted on Facebook.
“Stop the blackmail, in fact you are the one hanging on Uhuru’s popularity. You have a lot of work to do if you are thinking of a second term (in office),” Damaris Mager said.
