Nakuru ODM branch will start their peaceful demonstrations seeking to have IEBC disbanded on Monday.
ODM Nakuru chairman Dennis Okomol, who addressed journalists at the Nakuru Star offices Tuesday said they will start their demonstrations on Monday next week in support of the Cord officials petition to have IEBC commissioners removed from office.
“We have been handling our logistics and we are ready now to have our own demonstrations in the country. In solidarity with Kenyans countrywide, we confirm and affirm that we are joining the rest of the country in peaceful demonstration on Monday for the same cause in Nakuru. IEBC must go,” said Okomol.
The official also condemned the excessive force and 'live bullets' in the peaceful demonstration on Monday in Nairobi.
He claimed the demonstrators were exercising their constitutional and democratic rights.
“The use of live bullets by the police was a deliberate attempt to assassinate Cord principals and silence divergent voices championing electoral reforms,” added Minority leader in Nakuru County Assembly, Daniel Ambale.
He pointed out that the call to have the IEBC commissioners resign was in the interest of Kenyans.
“We affirm our support to our principals and the entire Kenyan people that IEBC commissioners must resign now to allow free, fair and peaceful elections in 2017 since Kenyans are tired of election rigging,” he added.
