The son of a prominent Naivasha politician will face the hangman after a Naivasha court found him guilty of robbery with violence and possession of ammunition during the incident.
Paul Kimani, the son of a popular politician (name withheld) and his accomplice Amos Nduati Gitau had been charged with seven counts of robbery with violence and handling suspected stolen property.
The suspects also faced charges of being in possession of ammunition and an imitation of a firearm during the robbery
It was a shocking Monday for the duo after a Naivasha court sentenced them to death for raiding the home of a Naivasha taxi driver on October 30 2015.
They are said to have had a gun during the over one hour hostage in the house of the taxi driver harassing the wife and the house help.
According to evidence adduced in court, they robbed the victims off their mobile phones and cash all valued at Sh34,500.
They also faced another charge of violently robbing a Naivasha business man Peter Khamisi of Sh33,000 in cash and personal effects worth Sh15, 000.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora noted that there was overwhelming evidence from the police and witnesses incriminating the two.
He noted that during the attack on the home of the taxi driver, the victims were deeply traumatized terming the attack as brutal and inhuman.
In their mitigation, the two called for leniency saying that they were still young but the magistrate went ahead to sentence them to death sentence.
