This follows complains from some members, the majority of them being from the Deputy President William Ruto camp, who have been lamenting of delayed polls.

But the former Rarieda Member of Parliament on Sunday said that the party will be holding its elections in March 2020.

He added that the polls will be held because the party wants to hold them and not out of pressure from the Registrar of Political Parties.

According to Tuju, the polls will also come in different phases and they will be done in a number of counties at a time and not all at once.

"We will go through party elections in March. We will face it in different ways. It is not being imposed from outside, it is not statutory but we want to do it because we want to do it. We will do it some counties at a time," he said according to a tweet by 24 TV.

Since its formation in the run-up to the 2017 general polls, the party has been surviving on an interim office, as no election has been done.

The elections come at a time when the party appears divided down the middle, with members being divided between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.
