Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany has waded into the raging Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) debate.
Speaking on Saturday during an interdenominational church service at St Benedict Kapsigilai Secondary School, Cherangany Constituency, Kositany said he was behind the initiative, but would not follow the directions of veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga.
"Those of us who know the meaning of BBI and the truth that I want to tell Kenyans is that we will attend BBI meetings, but we will not take directions from Raila Odinga (Sisi ambaye tunajua maana ya BBI na ukweli ambaye nataka kuambia Wakenya tutaenda mkutano ya BBI, lakini sisi tuko kwa BBI lakini hatufuati Raila Odinga)," Kositany said.
Kositany is part of a section of politicians that have raised concerns about the BBI being hijacked, to advance the political interests of some politicians.
Conveners of the meetings have denied that they are about 2022 politics, but about uniting the people of Kenya and pushing for a development agenda.
His words came in the wake of a press conference by members of the so-called Tanga Tanga group, who announced that they would attend the BBI meetings to be held across the country.
