BBI team is set to handover final report to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga any time from today (Monday) after the final review.

The reduction of constituencies could precipitate to heated political temperatures in the country given that a number of MPs have already opposed the move.

To solve the question of gender equality in Parliament, the BBI team has also recommended additional of 47 more seats for affirmative action.

Constituencies that would have numbers below the 133,000 quota could be lined up for scrapping should MPs adopt the report that has taken one year to be prepared.

Recently, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) placed Kenya's population at 47.6 million even though some regions have already disputed the figure.

Also, a powerful Prime Minister post has been proposed who will be the Head of Government. The PM will come from Majority party in parliament.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has been pushing for introduction of parliamentary system of government, a proposal that has also been embraced by Majority Leader Aden Duale.

In the proposal, the counties will remain intact while the president will be largely ceremonial if the country adopts the changes.
