Jubilee Party candidate in the just concluded Kibra MP race McDonald Mariga should begin from his own backyard before seeking a political seat, lawyer Brian Weke has said.
Weke, also a politician, says that Mariga has not been a person to be emulated since his childhood days, and has not been a blessing to his own people despite having the ability.
Speaking on Saturday, he noted that he grew up with the former Parma midfielder, but has not known him to be a helpful man, even to his own people, including in sports.
He claimed that Mariga has as well forgotten one of the people behind his soccer fame, his former coach at Country Bus soccer team, who he only identified as "Bingi".
" We grew up with Mariga but even his former coach at Country Bus Bingi is living in suffering (Mariga tulilelewa na yeye lakini hata coach yule alikuwa pale Country Bus anaitwa Bingi anaishi na taabu sana)," he said on Radio Jambo.
He added that similarly, Mariga has never been anywhere in sight during times of need like funeral fundraisers.
He stressed on the need for Mariga to demonstrate his ability to serve Kenyans in the capacity of an MP by beginning from home and helping his own people.
"Charity begins at home but this one has never even fundraised at a funeral. Let him begin from there before seeking votes (Charity begins at home lakini huyu hata kuchanga kwa matanga hajawahi. Aanze huko ndio akimbie kutafuta kura)," he added.
In his manifesto, Mariga promised to among others, enhance sporting activities and avail proper housing, education and jobs for Kibra residents.
