No evidence was provided to back that claim.

Colonel Turki al-Malki, a spokesman for the Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen told the media that an investigation into the attack had established that the weapons originated from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"All the preliminary evidence indicates that the terror attack was not launched from Yemeni territory as claimed by the Houthi militias. These militias are just a tool in the hands of the Iranian revolutionary guards used to implement the agenda and wishes of the revolutionary guards and the Iranian terrorist regime, " the Saudi colonel said according to a live CNN update on the volatile situation in the Persian Gulf.

Iran, on its part, has rubbished claims that it bears any responsibility for the attack that has affected global oil prices.

Investigators from the United States are already at the Aramco oil facility in a bid to gather intelligence and piece together evidence on the nature of the attack and type of weapons used.

The Houthi rebels operating in Yemen have maintained that they staged the attack, a claim for the responsibility that has been refuted by the United States.

In a statement, the rebels warned Saudi Arabia against continuing with its military effort in Yemen.

“We assure the Saudi regime that our longhand can reach wherever we want, and whenever we want, " the Houthi rebels' statement read in part according to the Washington Post.

The Yemen-based rebel group says it used 10 drones to carry out the attack with US investigators say there were 17 points of impact.
