Former Chair of the now defunct The National Alliance (TNA) party in Nakuru County Abdul Noor has doubted Deputy President William Ruto's assassination plot claims.
Ruto on Monday informed Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti that some state officials have been meeting, reportedly with the intention, at the La Mada Hotel.
But Noor says that the claims are quite unrealistic, judging by the top placement of the Deputy President in the government, meaning his security detail operates on intelligence.
Speaking on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show on Saturday evening, he opined that the alleged participants could not have made the plans without being detected.
He said that if there indeed are such plans, then its most likely not a product of Cabinet and Principal Secretaries as is being alleged, but most probably more powerful persons.
"Naibu wa Rais ni mtu mkubwa sana na kama kuna njama sifikirii kuna watu wanaweza kukaa wakapanga. Na kama wapo, lazima ni watu wenye nguvu sana (the Deputy President is a very senior person and I don't think people can sit and make such plans. If there are, then they must be very powerful people)," he said.
However, he said that the matter should not be taken lightly, but given the seriousness it deserves and properly investigated to establish the legality of Ruto's fears.
He also proposed that the findings be laid bare to Kenyans upon conclusion of the investigations to calm the nation and nost specifically Ruto's supporters and allies down.
"Tunataka wakenya wajue ukweli. Serikali kupitia DCI waingilie kwa kina na wajue ni nani hasa anahusika na majina yao itangazwe (we wants Kenyans to know the truth. Let the government through the DCI get deeper into the issue, and establish who exactly is involved and their names announced)," he added.
The fears have, however, been dismissed by Ruto's critics from the Kieleweke faction of the Jubilee Party, while the DP has kept his silence on the matter.
He is also yet to record a statement with the police over the matter.
