Nyamira South Sub County Deputy  Commissioner Justus Manoti has warned that the security personnel will round up all school going aged children found in video show halls beyond 8.00pm.

He decried that the habit contributed to poor performance in national examinations by local schools in the area.

Addressing a public gathering at Makairo trading center on Monday, Manoti said cases of school going children some below eight years old visiting video shows at night and even up to midnight have increased in the area.

He directed the security personnel in the area crack down on such children beyond the stipulated time and round them up for corporal punishment as a deterrent to others.

“We won’t allow any school going students to attend any kind of video show, and we will arrest any video show operator allowing children to their premises at any time” he added

The official cautioned parents encouraging the youth to defy the directive, saying the government may be forced to arrest him in case he continues to urge the school children to visit such dens

“These are school children who are needed to be at home revising their notes and doing their home work instead of loitering in video shows” he added
