A most wanted suspect of cattle rustling was Thursday morning killed in a shoot out with the police.
Kipchumba Rono alias Willy Kabur has been linked to a series of livestock theft along the border. He has been on the police radar for the last one year.
Kipchumba was killed in Potopoto village while in an alleged raid mission. Two who were with him managed to escape. Cattle rustling recently sparked a two weeks violence in the border.
Six were reported dead and many others left with injuries during the clash. Kisumu county commissioner John Elungata said the suspect had been adversely mentioned in the business.
He added that the suspect engaged in a fight with the police before he was shot.
Mr Elungata said: "Given the recent incidents of cattle theft, which led to a wave of violence in the area, the police have been conducting patrols. When they were confronted by the suspects, they responded and killed the suspect."
