Nyamira residents and parents of Nyansabakwa Boys school have praised the wife of the county governor, Naomi Nyagarama, for her swift action to assist the school whose dormitory was destroyed in a fire incident.
Speaking to this writer, a parent to one of the affected students said that it came as a relief after getting information that the county's first lady had offered to assist the victims after the Thursday morning fire incident.
He said Nyagarama had offered to carry the burden of the parents to ensure that the children remained in school.
"I salute the first lady for her efforts to ensure that our sons remained in school comfortable even after losing their belongings in the fire. I think this is the way our leaders should go to ensure that no time is lost that is meant for learning," said the parent.
"We now feel the fruits of devolution as the county has carried the burden of shopping a fresh for our students," added another parent.
The first lady donated sandals, mattresses and other personal effects that were a necessity for them to remain in school, and urged the residents to support the county government fully so as to realise development.
The 8.05 am fire according to the principal Henry Manoti affected over 110 students as it was the biggest dormitory.
Five years ago, another dormitory was burnt in the school and the cause has never been established, however the recent one was blamed on electricity fault.
