As the National Police Service officially started the recruitment of 10, 000 police constables across the country on Monday, a spot check across different recruitment centres in the larger Nakuru County revealed that many youth availed themselves ready to join the service.
Probable candidates started streaming to different centres as early as 6 am for the exercise which officially begun at 8 am.
According to officer in charge of Nakuru West and Kaptembwo OCS Patrick Makau, this year has witnessed a huge turnout which he attributed to reviewing of the entry grade.
"I think after the grades were reviewed from C- to D+, many unemployed youth who never got the chance of joining different vocational colleges seized the opportunity to attend the exercise," he said.
Makau cautioned parents against being duped into corruption saying everything will be done transparently with suspected corrupt deals being reported being reported at am emergency desk set up within the recruitment centre.
"At the Kaptembwo grounds, we have set up a report desk where all corruption deals can be reported with the perpetrators facing the full arm of the law," he added.
There are other 10 recruitment centres within the larger Nakuru County in the exercise that is expected to end 5 pm.
Afraha stadium is the official recruitment centre in Nakuru East, with DEB Primary School hosting the exercise in Subukia.
In Gilgil, the exercise is being undertaken at the Gilgil stadium, while Keringet Estate Primary School and Sirikwa Primary hosting the exercise in Kuresoi South and North respectively.
Kambi ya Moto DC grounds hosts the recruitment exercise in Rongai, Kihoto DC grounds in Naivasha, Njoro police post grounds in Njoro while those in Molo and Bahati can access the recruitment centres at the Molo municipal stadium and JM Kariuki Primary School respectively.
