Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has boldly stated he owes no one an apology for being Deputy President William Ruto's friend.
In a live television interview on Tuesday night, Ababu who is also the Labour Party of Kenya leader said his friendship with the DP spans over several years.
"I knew Ruto when we were in ODM," he said.
"We were also MPs in the same August House and above all cabinet ministers. After we split up and he became DP our friendship continued."
He however, criticised ODM party leader Raila Odinga of weakening him in the Orange party when he created three posts in the for MPs Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja), Junet Mohamed (Suna East) and ODM communication director Philip Etale.
This, he said weakened the Secretary General position.
"I am happy my former party leader encouraged me to take up the position of Secretary General but he gave in to a wave of propaganda to join the bandwagon of my detractors," he added.
"The party wanted Agnes Zani in preference to me as the Secretary-General. My party leader failed the test as a role model."
He recalled an incident in February 2014 when the 'men in black' shattered his ambitions of being the duly elected ODM SG.
"Although I later took up the position, Raila's close allies ridiculed me for not being an elected official of the party," Ababu said.
He denied claims that he intends to vie for the seat of Senate in August.
