Muthure residents in Kikuyu Sub County on Sunday gathered at the home of Geoffrey Mathenge to witness the exhumation of Rose Njoki, Mathenge's mother, who is alleged to have been killed and burried by the said man.
Mathenge, 37, had confessed to police officers on Friday that he hit his mother, who had gone missing for three days according to Gitaru Chief James Gitau.
Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu, who was also at the exhumation site said that Mathenge was arrested on Friday at Rungiri after his sister Catherine Mumbi suspected him over their missing of their mother.
“I talked to my mother on Saturday last week, as she informed me about my uncle’s death, we were supposed to go for the burial with my relatives but my mother did not come,” she said.
The body was retrieved after three hours of digging, and according to the pathologists, it was half burnt but they declined to comment stating that they will wait for a postmortem examination.
