A group of Nigerian businessmen have unveiled their plans to invest in the Coast region.
Speaking on Monday after paying a visit to the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) offices, the businessmen said they plan to invest in real estate, tourism, agriculture and telecommunications, among other sectors.
The investors, who hail from Kaduna State in northwest Nigeria, said they were impressed by the various investment opportunities that the coastal region has to offer.
“Today, we have established contact with the Kenya Chambers of Commerce, and we are going home with an understanding that we can invest here in Kenya,” said Mohammed Rimi, a prominent Nigerian investor.
KNCCI Mombasa vice chairperson Rukia Rashid, said the plan to invest in the region will give both nations a chance to work as a team, in a bid to boost their economies.
“This visit by the Nigerian investors gives us an opportunity to work together. Mombasa and Kenyan investors should grasp this investment opportunity,” said Rukia, as quoted by The Star.
