A group of Nyamira MCAs allied to Orange Democratic Movement is reportedly crafting an impeachment motion against the county assembly speaker Joash Nyamoko following his decision to join ruling coalition Jubilee.
Nyamoko had on Monday joined a section of Jubilee leaders from Nyamira during the official launching of Jubilee Alliance party in the county.
But a source privy to the looming ouster on Tuesday told the reporter that the motion was in its preliminary stages and they will charge the speaker of ‘gross misconduct’ saying the MCAS were sure of succeeding due to Cord’s majority in the house.
‘I want to confirm that speaker Nyamoko is under threat because a section of ODM MCAs is drafting an ouster motion. They are accusing him of shifting to Jubilee terming the move as gross misconduct,” said the source.
“The motion is in it infantry stages but they are optimistic it would carry the day because Cord has a majority in the house. They are also banking on few MCAs from minority side that are reportedly not in good terms with the speaker," added the source.
Majority leader Laban Masira could neither admit nor deny the looming ouster motion from his majority side but insisted that Cord was the majority and it was at liberty to ‘putting’ the house in order.
“Well, I am not informed of such motion so I can’t be able to confirm. What I know is that Cord is the majority and we are at liberty to put the house in order,” he said.
