Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong’i has yet again maintained that President Uhuru Kenyatta will easily beat opposition leader Raila Odinga in 2017 elections based on his development record.
Mr Tong’i was among the leaders who joined the official launching of Jubilee party at Kasarani on Saturday, a day after his Ford People party was dissolved.
On Monday at Kogoro Tong’i urged the Gusii community to vote for Jubilee as a precaution of avoiding being in opposition?
“The President has done some wonderful job in energy, infrastructure and even in the health sector. His development record will give him the second term and that is a fact. We should vote Jubilee and stay in government,” he said.
“You have seen defections from ODM and that shows that opposition is growing weaker every day and there is a huge chance that Uhuru will retain his seat. Politics is about numbers and Jubilee has shown it’s mighty in numbers,” he said.
He also challenged Gusii leaders who are still in the opposition to decamp and form a bigger force that would ensure Jubilee carries the day.
“I don’t want us to be left behind and the journey we started on Saturday should be a challenge to a number of us still in the opposition. They should not be left out because we should all be in government,” he added.
