Law enforcement authorities have launched investigations after two bodies of individuals believed to be in their sixties were found on a boat in York city centre.
The BBC reported that the emergency services were alerted to the grim discovery at about 20:00 GMT.
Law enforcement officers responded after members of the public raised concerns over what they described as two men in their sixties out of touch with their families.
“Sadly, on arrival officers found the bodies of two men on board the boat. Fire and ambulance services both attended and the bodies have been removed,” a statement from the North Yorkshire police read in part as quoted by the Guardian.
A post mortem is set to be conducted on the bodies so as to establish the exact cause of death.
Investigations have also been opened with a view of determining the exact circumstances of the deaths.
The deaths of the two men are being treated as unexplained until investigations are complete.
Names of the two have not yet been made public.
A crew from the fire ambulance department responded and removed the bodies from the scene.
The Mirror reported that the boat was found moored on River Ouse.
