Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has hit out at the top leadership of Amani National Congress (ANC) for allegedly intimidating rival leaders in the Western Region.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Khalwale asked ANC leaders not to interfere with activities of opposing parties and their leaders in Vihiga County.
The former Senator, who has since vowed to back Deputy President William Ruto, said that Kenya is a democratic nation and everyone has the freedom to campaign anywhere.
He noted that the hostility of ANC supporters in Vihiga County, is not good for a democratic nation like Kenya.
“We demand for tolerance from the top leadership of the @anc_party and hereby ask the authorities to stop them from threatening our key supporters for fear of our inroads into Vihiga County. Outdated and primitive politics! Join us in competing for the hearts and minds of Kenyans,” he said on Wednesday.
The ANC party is headed by former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi who hails from Vihiga County.
In the last election, the ANC party, signed a coalition agreement with , Ford-Kenya, Wiper Democratic Movement, and the Orange Democratic Movement to form the National Super Alliance.
