Former presidential candidate Professor James Ole Kiyiapi has weighed in on the troubles of controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna.
Writing on Twitter on Tuesday, the day the lawyer was expected to touch down in Kenya, Ole Kiyiapi took issue with the alleged red alert issued by the government to prevent Miguna Miguna from making the final leg of his journey to Kenya.
Kiyiapi said that blocking Miguna serves no useful purpose, terming it a contravention of court orders.
"Serves NO purpose whatsoever for GOK to block Miguna Miguna from coming home in contravention of court orders, in Kenya of 21st century! Government is strong NOT because it has no critics, it is strong in spite of any disagreement with any of the citizens. Hope sanity prevails, " the former presidential candidate said.
Miguna Miguna was on Tuesday stranded at a German airport after the airline he was supposed to travel on refused to grant him clearance to travel.
The development comes just a day after the immigration authorities said that they would comply with a court order to allow him back into the country.
The lawyer was forcefully deported from the country in 2018.
He has long maintained that his forceful deportation was a gross violation of his rights as a Kenyan citizen.
