Chege, speaking in Kiganjo on Wednesday, said that local politicians are working in cohorts with contractors to deliberately delay in completing the roads and other projects in order to use them as their campaign agenda.

"It is very unfortunate that most of the road projects we had been promised that will be completed by the end of this year are far much behind schedule," said Chege.

He added: "It is obvious that the delay of these projects is politically motivated to the disadvantage of we businessmen and the residents of Thika."

Chege noted that roads like Thika-Gatitu road, Thika By-pass, the road connecting Garissa Road at Metrofil and others were scheduled to complete by end of this year but will now drag up to mid-2016.

"The politicians are aware that by this time 2017 politics will be on high momentum and they would like to be seen on the ground pretending to be doing something and issuing empty threats to contractors. It is regrettable that they have to play their re-election politics with many lives of residents who are waiting for these projects," said Chege.
