Nairobi County governor hopeful Margaret Wanjiru says she was rich even before she became a pastor.

Taking during an interview on Crosstalk show on KBC TV, Wanjiru said her wealth, acquired through legitimate business, was there way before she started her Jesus is Alive Ministry Church.

 "I got wealth before I become a pastor, " she said. "People think building and running a church you get money from it. Before you get any money from the church you have to you have to put a lot of money in it, " she added. 

The bishop also criticised those who use churches for financial gain confessing that her church pays her a salary. 

"I do get a salary from the church, to pay my bills, of course, " she said.

"If you are getting millions from a church then you are being unfair, I get a fair salary from the church, " she added.
