Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) has suspended the weekly demonstrations against electoral body IEBC.
Cord said on Wednesday that the move is to allow dialogue over the IEBC stalemate.
The opposition coalition said it has given Jubilee until June 5, 2016 to respond to the dialogue calls, failure to which the Monday protests will resume.
The announcement was made by Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, flanked by Siaya Senator James Orengo.
This comes after May 23 demos in towns such as Kisumu and Siaya left four people dead and scores injured.
Cord leaders Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka condemned the shooting of the demonstrators, saying those who perpetrated the acts must be brought to justice.
“I condemn in the strongest terms possible, the horrendous actions of the police during the demonstrations...innocent Kenyans have been shot by the police and those who did that must be severely punished,” Odinga said during an evening press conference at Capitol Hill in Nairobi on Monday.
Cord leaders want IEBC commissioners out of office before the 2017 general election.
They are accusing the polls body of plotting to rig the election in favour of the ruling Jubilee coalition.
IEBC commissioners have however said they are not guilty of the accusations, maintaining they will only leave office if ejected through constitutional means.
The government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked the opposition chiefs to use Parliament to remove the commissioners, saying protests will not address their concerns.
