High Court Judge Pauline Nyamweya has withdrawn her application for post of deputy Chief Justice.

According to the Nation, Justice Nyamweya said Monday she hails from the Gusii region as Chief Justice nominee David Maraga.

The Judicial Service Commission had shortlisted 13 candidates for the DCJ which was left vacant following the retirement of Justice Kalpana Rawal, 70. 

Last month, the JSC nominated Justice Maraga to the post of CJ to replace Willy Mutunga who retired in June.

Justice Maraga is awaiting approval of the National Parliament and subsequent appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Already, Uhuru has submitted Maraga's name to National Assembly for vetting.
