It is claimed the residents hurled stones at the students as a boys dormitory was being razed by fire.

The school's principal Mr Peter Ndubi said one girl sustained injuries on her  leg during the commotion.

Addressing parents and students at the school's playground on Monday, area deputy commissioner Mr John Chelimo said police have launched investigations to arrest the attackers, ascertain their motives and also if they were involved in the torching of the dorm.

He asked anyone with information regarding to the Sunday evening incident to provide it to the police as they seek to bring the perpetrators and the attackers to book and also unravel the fire mystery.

"I condemn the act where some locals attacked students with stones instead of helping them put out the fire. Police are on with the investigations and we hope soon, we will arrest the suspects. We can't react that way when there is a problem. We should always come on board and help," said Chelimo.

This is not the first time the school is experiencing a fire incident. Another dormitory was burnt last year and still remains an empty shell.

By the time of going to press, no aid had reached the school even as the principal announced it had closed indefinitely save for the form four candidates who are preparing for their mock exams.
